Once you have connected your computer to the TV you may need to go to your display settings and activate the new display in order for your computer to recognize it. This is common when you are not using your TV as your primary monitor, or when you are connecting your laptop.
Windows:
You can use the Display Control Panel in Windows to activate the output to the television. You can either "mirror" the display of the computer on the TV, or you can "extend the desktop" onto the television and have two separate displays.
Windows is usually pretty good about detecting hardware additions. If Windows does not detect your television, take the following steps: Click the Start menu, then click "control panel". Double click on "display", then navigate to the "settings" tab.
Mac:
If you are using a Mac, open the "System Preference" and click on "Displays". Then click the button for "Detect Displays".
iPhone, iPad, iPod:
You can connect some iOS devices to your TV through the Apple Universal Dock. Click here for iOS compatibility guidelines.
TV:
If your TV has multiple video modes you might need to select the video mode that the cable is plugged into (HDMI, S-Video, Composite ect.). Input options are often available on your TV's remote. Read the instruction manual that came with your TV if you are having trouble locating this option.
